Ahhh my freshmen year at SVA is over!
It really has been an amazing years and I made such great friends.
I haven't been able to update much since my last post or been able to create new pieces of art..I've been so busy. However I have 4 free months ahead of me. Bring it on.

The color on the eyes isn't that dark and the image is much larger since there's more hair drawn in.. my scanner is weird and won't scan the real size.

]I finally own my favorite type of music thanks to youtube; old Motown and classic rock music. I have been a fan since my early single digits (4 or 5yrs old.)
That brought on this sketch i did school.
It really is my happy music.
On a sad note. My computer has become such a piece of shit lately that It gives me a hard time using photoshop or Sai. My laptop's charger died due to a power surge so no digital pieces for a while.
Bummer.
I am suppose to get a new laptop soon, a Mac.
I don't think I'm ready for that change haha. I think I think i mentioned this before , it really bothers me.

In our animation class, we are working on our first short with a partner. I'm happy to say that its going better than I thought, I'm having a lot of fun. I know its going to get harder soon especially with the fact that the other groups are doing really well as well. I feel a bit pressured haha

I'm currently on a goal that I really wanna finish.
SO, during that time, everyday I do it I'll draw one digital piece.
Here's my first one. Its also my first completed digital piece in a VERY long time. =]

Starving Artist

When i was in 4th grade, my teacher gave a lecture about careers. She was saying about all the opportunities out there until another teacher came in to speak to her and she mentioned to us that besides being a teacher, he was an artist. When he left the room she preceded by telling us never to go for a career in art because you won't make any money. That's why there are starving artists in the world.

I loved that teacher and took that advice to heart. It was until i started high school that my art teacher noticed my love for art and introduced me into the idea of being an artist for real, as a career. My mind was blown because I thought this was impossible. I even told myself I should become a writer since my favorite thing to do in the world was doomed to be a hobby.

She told me about SVA and MICA and SCAD. I fell in love with SVA and MICA and they became dreams for me.

So here I am, years later, Studying at SVA.
And... I'm broke as ever. I decided that maybe, for the time being I could be a freelance illustrator, but first I'd need to really update my computers and software. But..I'm broke as ever.

Maybe the starving artist concept is real. Maybe

My apology to the Bronx

When I moved from Georgia to the north, I moved in with my aunt for a few my aunts till we found a place in the city. My mother kept insisting that we should look into the Bronx and I immediately put my foot down and said

"No! I HATE the Bronx. I do not want to live here. I'm going to die or get jumped during late nights. NO NO NO." (NO NO No no no noo n o o o o o)

Of course she ignored me and continued looking. I mentioned how Queens had beautiful areas that we could afford. She continued to ignore my requests.

One of the tragedy of having Dominican parents is that you opinion as their child is worth shit. They pretty much make the decisions for you and consider that their choice is best. We are just children and do not know any better. No matter how old you are. I'm 21.

I mentioned Brooklyn since they beautiful areas that are easily accessible from school. She reacted the same way I did when the Bronx was mentioned.
Well she made the decision to move to Riverdale in the Bronx. Its a nice area that the majority of the people living here are Jewish unlike the rest of the Bronx which its majority is Hispanic. I'm used to living in diverse communities or completely white neighborhoods. I do know how its like to live around many of my kind and I will say..I don't enjoy that. At all. Not being racist just realistic. Its a bit difficult, it has its ups and downs but for me mainly downs.

Yea, I was pissed. but since it was a different area of the Bronx that I'm not used to experiencing.
After a month here...The Bronx doesn't seems so bad. I actually get home okay by taking the 1 train and the buses directly to the building. My neighbors are nice and I live near a school that I hardly notice the ~~demons~~ children coming in and out. ( don't like children haha)

So, I'm sorry Bronx I was so hard on you at first, you're not so bad. I think I can learn to love you over time. Lets see. :)

I've been wanting a place to write online and i realized i have this dormant blog.
I'm sorry I've neglected you.

Its been a strange new year. In such a short time it's had very high ups and very low downs. At the moment it is at a low but I'm working on fixing that. I found something to distract my time besides school work. I've been filling the last few pages of my moleskin with sketches and ideas for my story. I want to fill up quick so I can buy my new one.

Lately my immune system has been wanting to kill itself and I keep getting sick. Its become pretty inconvenient and with this weather of constant snowing isn't helping it.

Well time to get better and work harder. I haven't felt this inspired in a while so I might as well milk as long as I can.

Homework Magazine is a project that I am finally working on with my friend Jaime. the idea came up about 2 years ago when I first started at Perimeter and now I'm finally getting to it.
I have to produce a comic , create art for the website, and expand my portfolio.
I'm not really doing anything this summer anyways. This is also a great opportunity to finally start my gears and put my self out there.

Lately I have been feeling disconnected from the world and some friends. It seems to be a bit lonely, but i don't like to dwell on the thought to much. I figure that most of my "friends" will stop talking to my when i leave in august, but luckily I still have good friends like Tre,omar, lilly, joey, tiffany, jb and the bf to make me feel like I'm not losing everyone in my life.

Well at least when i leave I get to finally drop the people i don't necessarily like in my life along with bad memories of the most fake individuals I have attracted to me.

I have been watching non-stop for the past couple days a bunch of disney films with commentary and the making of the film specials on the discs. I've been driving tony crazy with watching so many in a row.

i drew my own version of this drawing by glen keane of pocahontas that i have to admit
is kinda awesome. Of course its nothing compared to glens but its a nice attempt.

Since money is harder to comeby nowadays, I have to learn to start saving up.
Photography is an art medium I'm highly jealous of that i can never seem to grasp. I'm horrible at it. So what do i do? dream that i can and do it anyways haha.

I'm back and for serious business. I'm actually going to give this one more try.
I would like to make more friends online because all mine in the real world are far away and I'm bored.

My portfolio for SCAD is due on the 15th of April. I don't have much but i hope it'll be good.
I quit one of my two jobs for time to work on it. I also need to work on my T-shirt fashions to make some money on the side.
lets see how we do from here on out. :/

I was surfing the web following people on Twitter and checking out some art sites and came across this.
This has got to be the coolest thing I've seen in a while especially with my octopus obsession.

The Artist has multiple photos showing his progress and the fun he had doing it. I was really impressed with what he did that I'm debating skipping work and just paint all day..
Well not skip work. Perhaps after work?

OKAY, so I'm now 20. Yesterday I spent the night at my boyfriend's house. His family gave me a nice birthday dinner. it was really the best birthday I have had in years. They made the top the cake dumbledore! Muahhaha!

i had to put it sideways but yea, a very special night. His family was super nice to me.

So, i was surfing the next and stumbled across something that became the subject of my blog title.I came across an Internship that would be so amazing that doing so would change my career forever. i determined when i would really be able to go and if i get into art college by next fall, i should be able to go by the summer of that school year. I may not get real credits but the chance from this place would be amazing. Now that have a bigger goal, i gotta develop story telling skills, my concepts and practice a little animation before art college ;)

also I should make an online portfolio asap.

okay so after forever, ( 3 years 10 months and 26 days) I've moved away from this house. I was really occupied with moving and having no internet whats so over except when i go to the boyfriends house.
Good bye house and all your all awful memories. Since I've been here life hasn't been pleasant until now.
Now on the drawing note, not much action there, but I am eliminating things that distract me.

After that? nothing much. jared will be glad to hear I'm quitting smoking by summer like i said. I've cut back...by alot. so almost there.

I had a temporary leave since i left for NY and came back.
Nothing much has really changed except become part of a relationship and wanting to murder my mother or perhaps myself so i can get away.
I've been coming up with more story development but I can't seem to come up with a name. I added another character, which I've named Robbie for the meantime. He's a character that I really wanna develop and make him involved in the story climax.
On another i have no idea how to end the damn story. Maybe if i just continue on it'll come to me. God knows.
School is almost over and I'm really going to miss it. My freshmen year is over and all I've got to show for it is my strong sense of being a slacker. Its really dissapointing. This summer I'm going to work on my drawing skills and study more on good writing. Also i wanna read more books so i can feel inspired and widen my horizons. I sound so silly, but gladly no one really reads this except me and this is here for my own sick amusment, that i have nothing to worry about.
Now at this very moment im currently thinking of Aiden and at the same time trying to creep my boyfriend out muahahahaha.

I wanna draw him actually. I'm going to wait till he falls asleep or continues playing his video games. A fellow student of mine recently got his work published and I was so happy to see someone I knew published. He's really excited and later on that night won an award at the student art show. That guy is on a role. The art show really gave me a drive. I want to improve, i want to move from this point I'm stuck in unfortunally.

As of today I've lived in georgia for about a three years, seven months and twenty-five days and I've only seen it snow maybe twice. I wake up today thinking its like 8am and i needed more sleep but i couldnt seem to doze off. I checked the time on my phone and it was 12:11pm. I go online and everyones talking bout snow. I think its people back home in jersey but no, gerogia folk. i look outside and BOOM snow.
i will admit. It made me really homesick.
I go outside to you know touch and stuff... its pretty much just slush. Its not that wonderful powdery stuff. Kinda disapointing.

Theres this song that ive become so obsessed with. Six days by Dj shadow ft. Mos Def.
i don't know why I've become so entranced by it.
Tomorrow never comes until its too late.
i blame the fast and furious soundtrack for it.

On another note, my life has crumbled pretty badly and I've entered a dark situation ive never experienced. This has become the hardest part of my life and i have no idea how to fix it.
I noticed in this whole that some friends only like you when things are going well and dont accept you when you have it tough. I think its time I concentrate on myself and withdraw myself from lots of my friends or maybe all of them.
My friendship shouldnt be measured on what i can buy you or shit like that. If im there for you that should count right? but i guess not.
I think thats the solution,
Withdraw, finish my portfolio, work a little more, pay off my shit, get into art school, be out of here by May, and move on.
so much for enjoying nice days with friends. i get yelled at for doing that.

well, recently i got a new tablet. and i must say, its spiffy. Theres no excuse to not put anything up or not draw. School has been good but i feel myself getting distracted. It could be cause of the people I've been hanging out with. I got a bunch of signs too, i interpreted my dreams and it was weird.
